Our Story

Prince of Peace began in 1977 and was originally part of the Wisconsin Evangelical Lutheran Synod (WELS). POP was served by Rev. Marc Schroeder from 1977 - 2011 (fully retired in 2013). During that time, God blessed the work and ministry of POP as the church experienced growth and served its community. In the mid-1980s, POP moved from its original location on Brice road to its current location on McNaughten. In 2003, POP joined the Lutheran Church - Missouri Synod (LC-MS). In the mid-2000s, Prince of Peace embraced being / becoming a multi-ethnic church. We began a partnership with Ebenezer Ethiopian church (LC-MS) and this partnership led to the development of our Sunday School van ministry and a tutoring partnership with an Ethiopian social services agency. We affirm and value the ethnic and cultural difference and blessings that make us who we are. We are continuing to grow in our being a church that welcomes and embraces cultural and ethnic diversity. We welcome you to be a part of what we are doing here at Prince of Peace.

In 2009 and 2010, POP began to plan for Pastor Marc's retirement from the ministry. In 2011, Pastor Chris was called from Concordia Seminary - St. Louis. We pray for God's continued blessing on our pastor, on our church as we seek to worship the Triune God, to serve Him, to witness, to fellowship, and to learn together as Christians on the Far East side of Columbus.

Even though Prince of Peace has been around Columbus since 1977, the Holy Spirit has been calling, gathering, enlightening, and sanctifying us through the Gospel of Jesus for thousands of years. He has been at work in your life before your coming to this website. How can you be a part of the Holy Spirit's work here at Prince of Peace?

We would love to see God's work through us to you and your work with us here in Columbus!
